Texas rum

Number 4 in the #BalconesWhisky twitter tasting was the Texas rum bottled at 63,9% On the nose fresh mint, fruity sweet, vanilla, raisin, dried fruit, marzipan, light orange and leather. Some floor wax, honey, rich fruitcake, jam doughnuts, vanilla pudding, creamy and the smell of a wax coat.

The palate is sweet and filled with spices, raisin, vanilla and other notes
much like on the nose. There are lots of fruits, honey suckle, baking spices, gingerbread and demerara sugar. Medium length finish. With some sweet, light chocolate and vanilla between the dense fruit notes, hint of dryness between the teeth left like cocoa powder, cinnamon and nutmeg… Something minty, cherry cola and chalky on the finish. Scoring it an 7,5 out of 10. I find it a balanced, sweet and full dram with lovely freshness on the nose.
