Cognac Leyrat VSOP

Day 8 of the Cognac Advent Calendar from Drinks by the Dram brings me a sample of Cognac Leyrat VSOP bottled at 40%. The nose has a soft vanilla, floral sweetness to it with notes of mixed nuts, honey and dried fruits. Notes of pepper, soft leather and tobacco rise to the top after the red ripe apples and elder flower syrup fade away. A lovely soft and sweet mix on this nose.

The palate follows with also a soft creamy sweetness of fresh and dried fruits, ranging from apples, pears, banana, peaches, pineapple to red summer fruit. Vanilla, toffee, powdered sugar, honey, dried figs, raisins and oranges. A very enjoyable cognac. Thanks Drinks by the Dram for the sample!
