Cragganmore (special releases 2016)

The Diageo Special Releases 2016 line up contains a Cragganmore bottling that has been matured in refill and rejuvenated American Oak hogsheads and refill ex-bodega European Oak butts. The release of 4.932 bottles is bottled at 55.7%. On the nose I find sweet notes of canned peaches, powdered sugar, almond shavings and honey. There is a light floral note, ripe banana, warm spices, creamy vanilla cream buns, apple strudel, red current and raspberries.

The palate shows this same creamy and sweet array of flavours. Fresh orange juice, red apple, pear, banana, red current, macademia nuts, peach, plums, honey, fudge, lemon, orange blossom, jasmine, violets and grapes. The good length finish shows a light dry nutty and spicy note combined with a hint of liquorish, chocolate flakes and malt. Thanks Diageo Netherlands for providing this sample!
