Glenkinchie 24 year old

The Diageo Special Releases 2016 consists of some interesting drams for sure going through the line up in the last few days. This time I am having a look at the Glenkinchie 24 year old bottling. Distilled in 1991, matured in refill European Oak butts and in total 5.928 bottles are bottled this year at 57.2%.

On the nose soft vanilla notes combined with honey, plums. apricots, banana, oranges and pears. Like a sweet thick fruit smoothie really with a slice of lemon cheesecake served next to it. Puffed pastry notes with apricot jam, apple sauce and orange marmalade. Cereal, powdered sugar, light note of black pepper and gooseberries.

The palate has all what I found on the nose but the fruit and spice notes are even more present. Giving me the feeling of cookie dough and baking spices mixed with a rich fruit cake. A creamy finish with soft vanilla, fudge and honey mixing in with cinnamon and chocolate flakes. Lovely warming sweet dram. Thanks Diageo Netherlands for the sample!
