Merlet Selection Saint-Sauvant Cognac

Behind door number 20 of the Drinks by the Dram Cognac Advent Calendar the Merlet Selection Saint-Sauvant Cognac is hiding. Bottled at 45.2% and it carries a fresh and sweet nose. Notes of marzipan, vanilla creme, honey, raspberry, lemon, oranges and mint at first. Light note of nuts and cinnamon between the different blossom notes and red apples. Lovely soft nose.

The palate continues with the honey sweet notes found before on the nose but adds some sharper lime and nutty notes to the mix. That is a bitterness that sticks sadly a bit too much for me at the moment. It overpowers the soft sweet notes for me of orange, raspberry, cassis, honey, fudge, elder flower syrup and plums. The finish is not a long one, but leaves a soft baking spice note behind between honey and vanilla. Thanks Drinks by the Dram for sharing this!
