Teeling has send over a sample of the third bottling of the Revival. A release to celebrate the 18-month anniversary of the opening of the distillery. It is a 14 year old whiskey distilled in 2002, matured in ex-bourbon casks, finished in ex-Pineau Des Charentes casks and bottled at 46%.
On the nose I am getting a whole lot of toffee, vanilla, almonds, dried mango and dried apple notes. Grapefruits, raisins, honey, hazelnuts, sweet potatoes, dried cranberries, coconut shavings, dried bananas and a light note of chocolate finish this sweet, fruity and fresh nose.
Powerful fruit and honey comb notes come through first on the palate mixing in with apple blossom, lemon candy, gooseberry, elder flower, dried cranberry, banana, green apple, nuts and toffee creaminess. Also I can find some passion fruit, cocoa powder, cherries, blackcurrant and some red chili pepper (in the back) on the palate. Medium length finish with soft mixed notes of vanilla and different nuts. To read more on the previous volumes in The Revival range check out the links below!
