From That Boutique-y Whisky Company comes a very interesting Mortlach bottling at 48,9% and 18 years old. This batch 3 was part of the recent #boutiqueywhisky twitter tasting together with some other stunning drams. On the nose I can find flavours of crispy sugar pops cereal, salty smoked ham, vanilla, raspberry, white pepper, allspice, wood spices, wood shavings, soft mixed floral notes of violets and hyacinths.
Again the violets on the palate together with a creamy and fruity mixture of apples, foam banana candy, raisins, beeswax, honey, raspberry, blackcurrant, chocolate and a malt note. The medium length finish shows next to the creamy vanilla a caramel note and some woodpolish. The sweetness fades away leaving notes of baking spices, ginger and mace. Thanks to That Boutique-y Whisky Company for sharing a sample in the Twitter Tasting to explore!
