That Boutique-y Whisky Company – Secret Distillery #2 – 15 years old

That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottled a whisky from a secret Highland distillery at 51% for their batch 2. In the recent #boutiqueywhisky twitter tasting they shared this whisky with a large group of people, not revealing much more about it then putting sixteen hybrid swan-m’n on the label. There is one distillery that comes to mind but nothing was confirmed…

The nose shows me very strong flavours of orange marmalade, dark burned toast, maraschino cherries, liquorice, blackberry, dark bitter chocolate, cinnamon, marzipan, poached pears and grilled fennel…

From the palate I can detect a good dose of plums, cinnamon and marzipan notes. Rich creamy vanilla, cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate, oranges, mint , laurel and liqourice. The medium length finish reveals a soft note of very ripe red apples, nutmeg and raisins.

A bit of a strange dram, but not unpleasant, almost giving the feeling of chocolate and salt combination in the end of the finish.  Thanks to That Boutique-y Whisky Company for sharing it in the twitter tasting!

  1. The details section on the MoM page actually states that this was made at Glenmorangie. Though the sixteen swan men on the label kind of gives things away…

Was this some kind of wine cask finish? Those red fruit notes are very similar to what I got with the Glenmorangie Artein which was a Tuscan wine finish.
