Time for something different. Twentse Korenwijn from the Dutch Sculte distillery bottled at 45%. They kindly send it over to WhiskySpeller HQ, so Thomas and I could have a closer look at it… Let’s check out this Dutch spirit!
On the nose I find different creamy and fruity notes. Apples, juniper, gooseberry, vanilla, oranges and some clove and sage in the back. The palate shows me green and red apples, red current, raspberry, lemon, vanilla, raisin, clove, juniper and some herbal notes. The finish has some flavours of cookie dough, apple skin and soft baking spices in it.
Starting with the creamy and fruity nose, moving onto the palate that reveals a bunch of different herbs and spices added to the sweet and fresh fruit layers, to end in a soft dry finish with the red apples returning again. Interesting. Going to have a closer look soon at some more products from this distillery, so stay tuned! Thank Sculte for sharing!
