Mackmyra’s recent release ‘Ten Years’ is bottled at 46,1%, based on the unpeated “elegant” recipe and has been matured in ex-bourbon and American oak casks that before held Oloroso sherry for a couple of months. They left it to mature over ten years at the Mackmyra’s Bodås mine warehouse, 50 metres under ground.
On the nose I can find flavours of beeswax, soft wood and sweet malt notes, red apples, mixed wild flower notes, blackberry, soft note of cassis, vanilla, honey, oregano and hint of marjoram.
More oak, nutty and peppery spiciness comes forward on the palate between an enhanced fruity sweet syrupy mix of orchard and fresh citrus fruits. A soft fennel note with honey and vanilla can be found on the medium length finish. Thanks for sharing a sample of this recent release MackMyra!
