Kilchoman – 5 year old

Door number 21 of the Drinks by the Dram Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar is open and a sample of Kilchoman Single Cask whisky from cask 524, distilled in 2011 and bottled at 5 years old at 58,3% is revealed!

On the nose I can find sweet jam notes of raspberry and strawberry. Some orange marmalade, fresh redcurrant, red apples, salty liquorice, seaweed, creamy vanilla pudding and dark raisin bread…

The palate is salty, creamy and peaty. Notes of honey, oranges, liquorice, raspberry, blackcurrant, plums, banana, red velvet cake and marzipan. Not too overpowering on the peaty notes, a sweet liquorice layer, toffee creaminess, hint of cherry and dark chocolate.

A medium length finish on this whisky, making it a balanced and very interesting dram. Thanks to #DrinksbytheDram for sharing this #WhiskyAdvent !
