Wemyss Malts recently released a new blended malt that was finished for a period in casks which had previously held Madeira wine. A nose that first is holding back a bit to be honest. Then, after a while, some soft citrus flavours emerge together with creamy vanilla and sweet red fruits. Getting also some flavours of bread dough, nuts and soft spices in the back…
The palate shows me a rich creamy fruity combination of all the flavours found before on the nose but now some more new ones are added. Light dark chocolate and fresh lemon, sweet oranges, soft candied ginger, creamy vanilla, raisins, blueberries, raspberry and some light toffee sweetness between this all.
The soft finish has some honey sweet flavours that remind me of peach syrup and toffee a bit. Thanks Wemyss Malts for sharing a sample of this latest expression!
